The effects of non-ionising radiation on fauna/flora/biodiversity

In this project, the Belgian BioElectroMagnetics Group (BBEMG) investigates the effects of electromagnetic fields on public health. As one of the partners, AgroFoodNature compiles the existing literature and investigates the effect of non-ionising radiation on agricultural crops.
The Belgian BioElectroMagnetics Group (BBEMG) was set up by Elia to assess health effects of electric fields and magnetic induction. This specifically concerns non-ionising radiation generated by transport and use of electric currents in daily life and at work (50 Hz).
AgroFoodNature will conduct a broad literature review on the effects of non-ionising radiation on fauna, flora and biodiversity within the partnership with UGENT at Proefhoeve Bottelare. Among other things, we will focus on the effect on agricultural crops with a review of newly published studies in this area. In addition, research will be conducted on selected farmers’fields to assess the effect of non-ionising radiation on arable crops .
