De inhoudelijke complexiteit van duurzaamheidsrapportering, de kosten van dataverzameling en effectieve rapportering enerzijds, en de beperkte middelen en expertise die kmo’s ter beschikking hebben anderzijds benadrukken de noodzaak aan ondersteuning en advies door accountants. Accountants zijn namelijk vaak het belangrijkste externe contact dat de kmo heeft om op de hoogte te blijven van nieuwe regelgeving. Accountants zien het ook als hun plicht om hun klanten op weg te helpen met de implementatie van nieuwe regelgevingen. Voor een kmo is het eenvoudiger om via de accountant op weg geholpen te worden tijdens de reeds bestaande, frequente overlegmomenten waar nu nog vaak de focus ligt op financiële rapportering. Bovendien kent de accountant het persoonlijk dossier van elke organisatie en kan dus ook een onmiddellijke vertaalslag uitvoeren van de theorie naar de concrete case van de kmo-klant. Accountants moeten dan ook klaargestoomd worden voor deze taak en daar wensen we met deze opleiding aan tegemoet te komen.

The substantive complexity of sustainability reporting, the cost of data collection and effective reporting on the one hand, and the limited resources and expertise available to SMEs on the other, emphasise the need for auditor support and advice. Indeed, accountants are often the main external contact the SME has to keep abreast of new regulations. Accountants also see it as their duty to help their clients along the way in implementing new regulations. For an SME, it is easier to be helped along the way via the accountant during the already existing, frequent consultation moments where now the focus is often on financial reporting. Moreover, the accountant knows the personal file of each organisation and can therefore also immediately translate theory to the concrete case of the SME customer. Accountants must therefore be prepared for this task and that is what we wish to meet with this training.
