De resultaten van de meest recente federale enquête woonwerkverkeer hebben aangetoond dat een groot deel van de Belgen voor hun woon-werkverkeer nog altijd de auto prefereert boven alternatieve vervoersmiddelen zoals de trein of de fiets. De gemiddelde afstanden en reistijden voor deze verplaatsingen zijn relatief groot in België. Gelet op de hoge brandstofprijzen, druk op de weginfrastructuur en het brede draagvlak voor duurzaamheid en milieubewustheid lijken deze onderzoeksresultaten niet te stroken met de ambities geformuleerd in SGD11 van de overeenkomst van Parijs. Met dit project wensen we een mentaliteitsverandering te realiseren door pendelaars te informeren over de verschillende mogelijkheden voor woon-werkverplaatsingen en de optimalisatie van deze verplaatsingen. We geven hierbij een compleet beeld op de totale kost (afstand, tijd, financieel, ecologisch) en moedigen duurzame en data-gedreven alternatieven aan. Naast individuele analyses zal de te ontwikkelen applicatie (i.e. platform) ook toelaten om complete personeelsbestanden te verwerken en analyseren. Bedrijven en organisaties kunnen met de verkregen inzichten heel gericht hun mobiliteitsbeleid afstemmen op de behoeften en mogelijkheden van hun individuele medewerkers. We integreren actuele reistijden over de weg en het openbaar vervoer, aangevuld met incentives, zoals fietsvergoedingen of fiscale voordelen enerzijds en de werkelijke kost van verplaatsingen met de auto anderzijds.

The results of the most recent federal survey on commuting have shown that a large proportion of Belgians still prefer the car for their commuting over alternative means of transportation such as the train or bicycle. The average distances and travel times for these commutes are relatively large in Belgium. Given the high fuel prices, pressure on road infrastructure, and broad support for sustainability and environmental awareness, these research results do not seem to align with the ambitions formulated in SDG11 of the Paris Agreement. With this project, we aim to achieve a mindset change by informing commuters about the various options for commuting and optimizing these commutes. We comprehensively view the total cost (distance, time, financial, ecological) and encourage sustainable and data-driven alternatives. In addition to individual analyses, the application to be developed (i.e., platform) will also allow for the processing and analysis of complete personnel files. Companies and organizations can use the obtained insights to specifically align their mobility policy with the needs and possibilities of their employees. We integrate current travel times for road and public transportation, supplemented with incentives such as bicycle allowances or tax benefits on the one hand, and the actual cost of car commutes on the other.
