Het Europese Interreg project Hemp4Circularity heeft tot doel “langvezelige” textielhennep op industriële schaal toe te passen in de Europese textielwaardeketen. Het project volgt een nieuwe aanpak die (1) de basis legt voor een veelbelovende opkomende sector, (2) de circulaire economie in de textielsector wenst te versterken en (3) de groei en onafhankelijkheid van Noordwest-Europese fabrikanten wil versnellen. Het project is gebaseerd op alle schakels in de verwerkingsketen van hennep en vlas voor textieltoepassingen, van de teelt tot het spinnen van de garens en de fabricage en recycling van stoffen, volgens de logica van de circulaire economie. Verder zet Hemp4Circularity in op het delen van kennis en expertise dankzij een transnationale samenwerking van bedrijven en belangenorganisaties uit 4 Noordwest-Europese landen.

The European Interreg project Hemp4Circularity aims to apply "long fibre" textile hemp on an industrial scale in the European textile value chain. The project follows a novel approach that (1) lays the foundation for a promising emerging sector, (2) seeks to strengthen the circular economy in the textile sector and (3) accelerates the growth and independence of North-West European manufacturers. The project is based on all links in the processing chain of hemp and flax for textile applications, from cultivation to yarn spinning to fabric manufacturing and recycling, following the logic of the circular economy. Furthermore, Hemp4Circularity is committed to sharing knowledge and expertise thanks to a transnational collaboration of companies and interest groups from 4 North-West European countries.
