Sociaal-ruimtelijk werken in sociaal werk

Binnen het sociaal werk ontwikkelt zich een sociaal-ruimtelijk perspectief, waarbij er oog is voor ruimtelijke elementen, sociale processen en de interactie ertussen. Het onderzoek heeft als doelstelling de betekenis van dit sociaal-ruimtelijk perspectief in sociaal werk te concretiseren, zowel in literatuur, praktijk als onderwijs.
Aan de slag gaan met de (stedelijke) ruimte vraagt om een multidisciplinaire aanpak. Enerzijds omwille van de inherente gelaagdheid van het ruimtebegrip als gebouwde, beleefde en sociaal-politieke ruimte. Anderzijds omwille van de uiteenlopende claims en behoeften van verscheidene ruimtegebruikers die op eenzelfde plek samen komen. Vertrekkende vanuit een democratische visie op de inrichting van stedelijke ruimte, ontwikkelt zich in het sociaal werk een sociaal-ruimtelijk perspectief, waarbij men oog heeft voor ruimtelijke elementen, sociale processen en de interactie ertussen. Dit onderzoek heeft als doelstelling de betekenis van dit sociaal-ruimtelijk perspectief in sociaal werk te concretiseren, zowel in literatuur, praktijk als onderwijs. Na het inventariseren van de betekenissen en noden van dit sociaal-ruimtelijk perspectief wordt, via een design thinking proces, vormgegeven aan een ondersteunende opleidings- en trainingsmodule voor docenten en studenten sociaal werk.

Social-spatial work in social work

A socio-spatial perspective is developing within social work, with an eye for spatial elements, social processes and the interaction between them. The research aims to concretise the meaning of this social-spatial perspective in social work, both in literature, practice and education.
Getting started with (urban) space requires a multidisciplinary approach. On the one hand, because of the inherent stratification of the concept of space as built, experienced and socio-political space. On the other, because of the diverse claims and needs of several space users who converge on the same place. Starting from a democratic vision of the design of urban space, a socio-spatial perspective is developing in social work, with an eye for spatial elements, social processes and the interaction between them. This research aims to concretise the meaning of this socio-spatial perspective in social work, both in literature, practice and education. After taking stock of the meanings and needs of this socio-spatial perspective, through a design thinking process, a supporting education and training module for social work teachers and students will be shaped.
