Woon- en omgevingskwaliteit in Sociale Huisvestingswijken in Vlaamse centrumsteden.

Met het onderzoeksproject WiSH wordt de kwaliteit van woning- en woonomgeving in Vlaamse sociale huisvestingswijken onder de loep genomen.
Het project draagt bij aan een oplossing voor een deelprobleem binnen de huidige wooncrisis. Naast toegang tot en betaalbaarheid van huurwoningen op de private en sociale huisvestingsmarkt is de kwaliteit ervan een aspect dat aandacht door onderzoek verdient. De intentie is te komen tot een bewuster en praktischer beleid om sociaal wonen op een kwaliteitsvolle manier te organiseren.
Er is een kennislacune over hoe kwaliteit van woning en woonomgeving wordt ervaren door bewoners, in het bijzonder bij Vlaamse sociale huisvestingswijken. Op basis van drie concrete casussen worden bewoners nauw betrokken bij dit onderzoek.
Ook huisvestingsmaatschappijen, het middenveld en lokale en bovenlokale overheden zijn als belangrijke stakeholders nauw betrokken bij ontwerp, bouw en beheer van sociale huisvestingsprojecten. Het actief betrekken van alle belanghebbenden bij dit onderzoek komt de kwaliteit van het onderzoek en onderzoeksresultaat ten goede.
Met dit onderzoek willen we een bijdrage leveren aan de visie op en organisatie van sociaal wonen in Vlaanderen vanuit het lokale en bovenlokale beleid.

Housing and environmental quality in Social Housing Districts in Flemish central cities.

The WiSH research project examines the quality of housing and living environments in Flemish social housing districts.
The project contributes to a solution for a partial problem within the current housing crisis. Besides access to and affordability of rental housing on the private and social housing market, its quality is an aspect that deserves attention through research. The intention is to arrive at a more conscious and practical policy to organise social housing in a quality manner.
There is a knowledge gap on how quality of housing and living environment is perceived by residents, especially in Flemish social housing districts. Based on three concrete cases, residents are closely involved in this research.
Housing companies, civil society and local and supra-local authorities are also closely involved as key stakeholders in the design, construction and management of social housing projects. The active involvement of all stakeholders in this research benefits the quality of the research and research outcome.
With this research, we want to contribute to the vision on and organisation of social housing in Flanders from the perspective of local and supra-local policy.
