Fairness and Nature

Er is toenemende aandacht zowel lokaal, Vlaams,Europees als internationaal voor de spanning tussen de ecologische en de sociale dimensie van duurzaamheid. De noodzaak van een sociaal rechtvaardige transitie & van ecological / environmental justice wordt meer en meer beklemtoond – zowel in academische kringen als in beleidskringen.
Specifiek in dit onderzoeksproject is dat we in lokale stedelijke contexten in beeld brengen
• of en hoe sociale rechtvaardigheid in stedelijke praktijken met een ecologische dimensie aan bod komt en omgekeerd
• of en hoe dimensies van ecologische rechtvaardigheid aan bod komen in sociale praktijken
• welke contouren een geïntegreerde visie op sociaal-ecologische rechtvaardigheid zou kunnen aannemen voor praktijkontwikkelingen rond stedelijke natuur.

Fairness and Nature

There is increasing attention both locally, Flemish,European and internationally to the tension between the ecological and social dimensions of sustainability. The need for a socially just transition & of ecological / environmental justice is increasingly stressed - both in academic and policy circles.
Specific to this research project is that in local urban contexts, we visualise
- whether and how social justice is addressed in urban practices with an ecological dimension and vice versa
- whether and how dimensions of ecological justice are addressed in social practices
- what contours an integrated vision of social-ecological justice might take for practice developments around urban nature.
